Drufle (GM)	Alright good. Last time Will finally found out (kind of) what was up with Bic, and he evolved as well! Will also caught a feisty new Pokemon, Zephy the Noibat. Now he is continuing his way far to the east, to get to Lazulin City, the site of the next gym. Oh, let me give you your Pokemon. I don't know if you noticed, Will.
Drufle (GM)	But I gave the other players subfolders for their Pokemon. For easier sorting. I was going to do that for Will, but uh. There is basically no pattern to your Pokemon.
Will	they're all friends put em in a Friend Folder
Drufle (GM)	A good idea.
Will	"Guh, the grounds all squishy here...I miss the beach already."
Drufle (GM)	So this is a freshwater biome, almost certainly, so let me roll up an encounter for you.
Will	"...You must be right at home here."
Zoop	"Upa." Zoop is rolling around in the mud.
Drufle (GM)	Gruu would be as well, reasonably speaking. Croagunk tend to live in marshy places.
Gruu	Gruu would be, except she's busy punching grass.
Drufle (GM)	rolling 1d6( 5 ) = 5 rolling 1d6 ( 6 ) = 6 rolling 1d6 ( 6 ) = 6 Well there's an interesting result. Just one second.
Bic	Bic pokes the water, getting a shock from the freezing water. Brr.
Xirb	"Tweet." Xirb and Zephy are perched on Will's shoulders.
Will	"Wish I could just fly over this. Cool trainers use their pokemon to fly..." "What do you say, guys, wanna try it?"
Zephy	"squeak?"
Will	"Oh come on, I'm not that heavy." "I mean I guess I'm carrying an entire tent..."
Zephy	Zephy attempts to lift Will with all it's might.
Xirb	Xirb is not.
Will	"Okay, well, it's important to try..."
Zoop	Zoop rises from the pond, covered in a thick layer of mud. "Uppaaa!"
Bic	"brweeoop!!"
Drufle (GM)	As Will tromps his way through the horrible mud, a screech comes from above.
Will	"A bird! A plane??"
Drufle (GM)	It's a bird! Kind of!
Zoop	"Upa?"
Will	"A birdplane? Don't be silly."
Drufle (GM)	It glares at Will, annoyed at the human trespassing.
Will	"Hello? Sir?"
Drufle (GM)	He readies his fists. Wings. Fistwings.
Will	"Okay, enough jokes, I think it's mad."
Drufle (GM)	I have 6 speed! Come at me.
Will	Hmm... "Zephy, g-" Before Will can finish, Zephy speeds into action.
Zephy	With a speed focus, of course.
Drufle (GM)	Oh no!!!! I'm a Fighting/Flying type, by the way. For type purposes.
Will	Right-o. Zephy used Dragon Claw! Target Hawlucha Roll 2 5 5 + 6 AC 13 Damage 2 That's a hit, with STAB i think.
Drufle (GM)	Yep!
Will	i dont think type affects anything here right
Drufle (GM)	Wow that is quite a hit. Only Steel and Fairy resist Dragon. You're good.
Zephy	Zephy speeds towards the opponent, claws drawn.
Drufle (GM)	Luckily I have 5 hp!
Zephy	And they're dragony.
Drufle (GM)	The Hawlucha gets struck across the face, not expecting the incredibly quick Noibat.
Will	"I was going to ask you to do that so well done!"
Drufle (GM)	He hops back and starts glowing, revving up his little arms.
Will	"Wait for the counter attack!"
Drufle (GM)	BULK UP
Will	"...Or not."
Drufle (GM)	All of my physical moves do +1 damage, and all of yours do -1 damage.
Will	Hmm...
Drufle (GM)	Well, you're up! Physical moves are probably not the best idea here now.
Will	All his moves are physical... what to do i could switch, maybe does that use the turn
Drufle (GM)	Yes. I get to smack the guy that comes in.

Will	does this guy evolve
Drufle (GM)	Hawlucha? No, he's a single-stage, unfortunately. He is a flier though!
Will	okay well you know whats about to happen
Drufle (GM)	Oh, right. Whoops.
Zoop	And blasts the birdbrain with a torrent of muddy water.
Drufle (GM)	Zoop's Water Gun suddenly zooms towards Hawlucha and knocks him out!
Will	"Ah...thanks, Zoop." Will returns Gruu to her ball as well. "Pretty gross, though." "Geez, this thing was tough." "Some kind of. Wrestling...bird??" guess ill catch it gotta catch em all
Drufle (GM)	Yep!
Will	wahts the dc here
Drufle (GM)	Oh holy dango. It's a 50! Can uh. Do you have any Ultra Balls?
Will	I have one
Drufle (GM)	Well, let's think. Your aptitude is 6? Or 5.

Xirb	"Tweet..." Xirb shakes his entire-head-body.
Will	"Well, let's get going..."
Drufle (GM)	Yep! And hey, you finally have a full party!
Will	"We gotta get these guys to a center."
Bic	"breweep" Bic is impressed by Gruu's brave sacrifice. Truly a great hero.
Will	"God, the city's muddy as well."
Drufle (GM)	Not much longer, Will finally makes his way into Lazulin City. Hey, it's stuck between two lakes!
Will	"Guess they can't complain about us tracking mud around.
Drufle (GM)	What do you want from the poor construction workers.
Will	maybe they should go somewhere else! the fools!!
Drufle (GM)	Anyway, you arrive and the city is nice and busy. It's quite a bit more busy than the last place you were at, so it's quite a bit more exciting around. Lots of fishermen, mostly. As well as hydroponic farmers.
Will	"Wonder what kind of fish they catch around here."
Drufle (GM)	Freshwater fish, of course. Which, as the rest of the group has found out recently, is more varieties than you would normally expect.
Will	you mean magikarp right theres no such thing as a normal fish
Drufle (GM)	I suppose so? I guess it would just be like Magikarp.
Will	that one fish no one ever remembers the one that evolves into an octopus for some reason remoraid
Drufle (GM)	What, finneon?
Will	statistically thats someones favorite pokemon
Drufle (GM)	I feel like there'd be no meat on those.
Will	i forgot about finneon too
Drufle (GM)	Anyway, let's move on to the gym, hm? I figure that's probably the main event here.
Will	we'll just skip the pokemon center then
Drufle (GM)	Oh wait, whoops. I forgot again! Roll attention.
Will	maybe you should be rolling attention!!
Drufle (GM)	Shhhh.
Will	rolling 2d6 + 6( 6 + 4 )+6 = 16 was that it
Drufle (GM)	I'm used to people hassling me for loot all the time. Yes. Now roll 3d6.
Will	rolling 3d6( 4 + 3 + 3 ) = 10
Drufle (GM)	1 hyper potion, 1 potion, 3 revives, 2 full heals, 2 ethers, and 8k pokeyen. Also wow, the song just now looped. That is quite a long remix. And yeah, we can skip the Center. There's nothing of any real importance there anyway.

Drufle (GM)	In the center of the city is a large domed building made of pale blue glass.
Will	Will has his pokemon lined up, with one new addition.
Drufle (GM)	Inside is a battlefield laid out in a similar fashion to the others, with some water features nearby.
Hawlucha	"Hmph." grumps the new team member, his back to the team.
Will	"Well, most of us are ready." "Wow, this place is fancy." "I wonder what element this place is."
Drufle (GM)	Oh. Oh dear.
Xirb	"...Tweet."
Drufle (GM)	Well, turns out the game does weird things to people.
Will	"Xirb, I'm joking, haha..."
Drufle (GM)	There, that's nicer.
Will	that lady is HUGE
Drufle (GM)	It's the only way to make her not look ridiculous and squished. A young lady dressed in a wetsuit comes out from a back room, and notices Will at the front. She waves excitedly and runs up to the battlefield.
Sasha	"Hey! Are you here to challenge the gym?"
Will	Will notices her and turns around, giving her an odd look. "Oh! Um..." "Yes!" Sasha claps her hands together.
Sasha	"Great! We're usually one of the later gyms, since we're on the other side of the continent from the port. How many badges do you have?"
Will	do i really only have one
Drufle (GM)	You sure do.
Will	"I have the uh...the Diverse Badge." "...Um, that's it, right now." Sasha looks confused.
Sasha	"Wow, really? Did you come from the north?"
Will	"Well, I started west...I was just nearest here." Sasha shrugs.
Sasha	"Well, that's fine! I've got some lower-level Pokemon for you!" "Standard rules, k?"
Will	"Um. Yeah...?!"
Sasha	"I've just got my three, but that's all I'll need!"
Will	"We're ready!" "Go! Gruu!" what the heck is that Sasha tosses out Skrelp!
Drufle (GM)	Skrelp is a Poison/Water type from Kalos. He's a little sea horse guy! But the leafy kind with the weird fins. I have 5 speed, so let's roll off. rolling 2d6 ( 2 + 1 ) = 3 Oh.
Will	i have six speed??
Drufle (GM)	Oh. Well you go first anyway!
Will	for once!
Drufle (GM)	Sorry, I'm used to everyone else having 5 speed.
Will	"Use your punchy punch!"
Gruu	Gruu understands immediately. Gruu used Rock Smash! Target Skrelp Roll 4 6 5 + 6 AC 15 Damage 3

Will	yeah i should have upped that huh

Drufle (GM)	Skrelp summons up a wave of water from the nearby features and wipes Gruu right off the field!
Will	"Nice work, Gruu!"
Drufle (GM)	Remember, you get to use all 6 of your Pokemon.
Will	"Bic! You're up!"
Drufle (GM)	You aren't limited.
Bic	"bweep!!"
Drufle (GM)	Your turn!
Will	"Right...Bic. Use your new power!"
Drufle (GM)	Oh dear. Curse you and type coverage! Will: Bic used Thunderbolt! Target Skrelp Roll 6 3 4 + 5 AC 14 Damage 3
Drufle (GM)	Nuts. The Skrelp gets knocked out from the bolt of lightning! Sasha looks surprised.
Bic	"bzzt"
Sasha	"Wow, that was unexpected." "Alright, let's see if we can't turn this around. Go, Tirtouga!"
Bic	Bic does a little spin to shake off the static."
Drufle (GM)	You're up! Wait, no. I forgot, I get a turn when I get knocked out. Get 'im, little turtle!
Will	"Watch it's movements, Bic!" Drufle (GM): Tirtouga used Scald! Target Bic Roll 6 2 4 + 7 AC 13 Damage 2 And Bic is on fire!
Will	out of curiosity what was that last mon's high stat i should have asked actually
Drufle (GM)	Uh, Skrelp? Special Attack.
Will	ah wouldn't have mattered then

Drufle (GM)	Yes. More specifically. When burned, you have a disadvantage on physical attacks, and you take 1 damage whenever you damage one of my Pokemon.

Drufle (GM)	Hm.

Drufle (GM)	I don't believe he has it.

Bic	Bic tries to discharge again, but winces from the burn.
Drufle (GM)	Oh, nevermind. You are not in fact getting smacked. Well, here's your second chance!
Bic	He recovers quickly and dodges the incoming attack.
Drufle (GM)	Tirtouga launches himself from a jet of water and flies past the digital duck!
Will	"Bic, that's enough, come back!" I recall Bic, and send out Zoop.
Drufle (GM)	Alright, I get a strike then. Tirtouga used Water Gun! Target Zoop Roll 2 4 1 + 7 AC 13 Damage 2 A hit! Barely! Wait.
Will	my ac went down
Drufle (GM)	Did I press physical attack by mistake? Are both of your defenses 4?
Will	no its 5/4 hmm.
Drufle (GM)	5 special?
Will	no drufle that last attack hit i think or is waterfall physical
Drufle (GM)	Waterfall is physical.
Will	nevermind okay this is fine you hit
Drufle (GM)	Alright. You're up now!
Zoop	Zoop shakes off the blast, and launches in.
Will	"You got it!"
Drufle (GM)	Fighting moves would actually be a good idea here. Tirtouga is Water/Rock. Zoop: Zoop used Karate Chop! Target Tirtouga Roll 2 6 4 + 6 AC 15 Damage 3
Drufle (GM)	Speaking of which. Zoop, in rebuttal, strikes Tirtouga in the head and sends him flying!
Sasha	"Wow, some pretty rowdy Pokemon there! Let's see how they stand up to this!" Sasha sends out her strongest Pokemon!
Zoop	Zoop is looking determined. its a duck
Sasha	"Go, Pelipper!" Sasha holds a small stone next to her rebreather, and Pelipper begins glowing!
Will	"Ah... I've seen this before..." "Careful, buddy!"
Drufle (GM)	A white light envelops the pelican, and when the light fades, Pelipper's beak has become sharper, its wings more robust, and long feathers fly back from its sharpened eyes. A crack of thunder peals across the ceiling with a bolt of lightning, and rain starts falling from above! It's raining! All water types get +2 speed, so you're still faster with Zoop. Go ahead!
Will	"Bwuh?!"
Zoop	Zoop feels refreshed from the cold shower. hmm... He runs up and...
Drufle (GM)	Flying resists Fighting, if you're gonna punch me. Zoop: Zoop used Bite! Target Pelipper Roll 6 5 4 + 6 AC 15 Damage 2
Drufle (GM)	Oh wow. I forgot about that one!
Will	"...Still weirds me out, that."
Drufle (GM)	Mega Pelipper reels from the bite, but glares at the little Wooper! Pelipper used Hydro Pump! Target Zoop Roll 1 1 4 + 7 AC 13 Damage 4 Wow, really? Alright, no hydro pumps today.
Zoop	Zoop rides the hydro pump into the air, getting a boost. Zoop used Bite! Target Pelipper Roll 3 3 2 + 6 AC 15 Damage 2
Drufle (GM)	Not quite! Are you gonna underdog this?
Zoop	hmmm sure
Drufle (GM)	Well if that's the case.
Zoop	so thats 3 damage
Drufle (GM)	Zoop rushes in and clamps down on Mega Pelipper, sending it flying into the ground! Sasha looks understandable concerned.
Sasha	"Wow, uh."
Will	"You did it!!"
Sasha	"That's an incredibly powerful Wooper you have there, man."
Will	"He's the best!" "So are these guys." Sasha nods.
Bic	"brwee..." Bic blushes somehow.
Sasha	"They sure are! Usually ol' Mega Pelipper can zip around anything in the rain, but that little guy just tore through him!"
Gruu	"GRu...." + weak thumbs up This always happens.
Sasha	"Well, this is for you!" Sasha walks (kinda waddles in the fins) over to Will.
Zoop	Zoop breathes a sigh of relief. Maybe riding the hydro pump was a bit much, he thinks. Sasha hands him a small badge in the shape of a teardrop, one side blue and shiny, the other a pale green and a leaf motif.
Sasha	"That's the Bog Badge, a sign of the marshes we have here in Lazulin! It's a good representative of types coming together to make something better. " "Oh, and, you get these too." Sasha hands Will a small CD and a bag.
Will	"Oh! T-thank you."
Sasha	"That's HM Surf, we just got a shipment of them from the mountains earlier. And the bag is 10000 pokeyen!" Sasha smiles at Will.
Zoop	Zoop leaps onto Will's shoulder and peers at the goodies.
Will	"Surf, huh.." "Zoop, maybe you can give me a ride across the lake."
Zoop	"Upa..." Zoop is concerned.
Will	"Uhm. Thank you for the battle!"
Drufle (GM)	Now, to make it clear.
Will	Will gives a small bow?? Why'd he do that.
Drufle (GM)	That HM isn't just Surf, it is the field move in the book which is actually Surf/Dive/Waterfall/Whirlpool.
Will	I'm confused here do I just know that now
Drufle (GM)	It's available to all Water types, as well as any Ice, Normal, or Fighting types who have HP or DEF focus. Yep! We decided that actually needing the boon to use these important field moves is silly. So as long as the Pokemon has the prereqs and you have the HM, you can use it.
Will	Will presses the CD onto Zoop's big forehead. "Do you feel smarter?"
Zoop	Zoop is filled with KNOWLEDGE.
Drufle (GM)	Do any of your other pokemon have HP or DEF focus?
Zoop	It's a little disorienting.
Will	Bic would if he downloads it.
Drufle (GM)	You have a couple of Fighting and Normal types so I wasn't sure. Oh, true.
Will	but it's only the field move version, right
Drufle (GM)	That's in combat only, unfortunately. Yeah, you don't get the combat version.
Will	i wonder if he could download from another mon out of battle.. Sasha waves at Will, and walks back to the other side of the gym.
Will	i want boat mode bic zyoom
Drufle (GM)	Hm... You know, I might just allow that for these purposes.
Will	Will takes everyone back to the pokemon center to rest.
Drufle (GM)	Smart! You only lost Gruu, right?
Will	yeah i was keeping bic just in case he had that 4x advantage and one final attack to make
Drufle (GM)	By the way, the plan there was for Mega Pelipper to come in, activate rain with Drizzle, and then blast everyone with Hydro Pumps because he would outspeed them. And then I forgot that Zoop is also Water type. Whelp.

Drufle (GM)	Oh, right. 2 exp for the Hawlucha since he beat up a bunch of your guys, and 3 exp for the gym battle. 5 total.

Drufle (GM)	Nice! You're level, what, 4? Or 3.
Will	The pokemon are chatting amongst themselves about the battle. How exciting. But who's that in the corner
Hawlucha	hmph What a grump. Someone send not-so-grump over there.
Will	Will approaches the bird. "Hey..."
Hawlucha	Hawlucha ignores Will.
Will	"Uhm..." "...Hmm." "Okay, so I know I like, 'caught' you or whatever." "You don't have to come with us. But I think it could be fun, for a little while." "You seemed a bit grumpy in that swamp." "Uh...sleep on it, I guess."
Hawlucha	"..."
Will	We should rest here for the night. Wonder where I should go next.
Drufle (GM)	Hm... I have a good idea. See city 9? Down a bit southeast of you? That is also a gym city.
Will	I could continue on that path. what's at 8
Drufle (GM)	8 is, uh... 8 is Mordsten Town. It's super hilly, and a large gem mine in the area.
Will	Well, let's head to 9 anyway.
Drufle (GM)	Alright!
Will	I wonder, could I shortcut across the lake I can decide that next time I guess
Drufle (GM)	Now that you have surf? You sure could! But yes, that will be for next time. More progress! That'll be all for tonight though.
