![]() Drufle (GM) | ok right then It's midday in Caecras, a few weeks after the Orcish Insurrection. The sun is high in the sky, and off near the horizon you can see the moon and it's oddly red glow. |
![]() H. Knight | I was convinced we'd have the whole King Drudge story but here we are |
![]() Drufle (GM) | The orc king? No, that's been retconned out for our purposes. |
![]() H. Knight | righto |
![]() Drufle (GM) | For Reasons. H. Knight gazes at the moon, wondering not for the first time about its significance |
![]() Drufle (GM) | The great Holy/Horse Knight is wandering the streets of the merchants' quarter, on his daily patrol as part of his Hero of Caecras duty. im trying to find some music quick just a sec |
![]() H. Knight | hurry now, Greenhorn Forst will finish any second *Forest ooh, ambience |
![]() Drufle (GM) | The familiar sound of clanking metal, mumbling voices, and crackling fire fill the air. |
![]() H. Knight | have the people grown used to my presence or are they still weirded out? |
![]() Drufle (GM) | Oh, they're quite used to clockworks around here. Well. As used as you can get to a walking talking machine. |
![]() H. Knight | normal, human clockworks no doubt |
![]() Drufle (GM) | Yeah, the robotaur freaked a lot of people out initially. But feelings toward the great Heroes have been quite positive in general. A few people wave to you as you walk by, smiling. The majority of the citizenry recognizes you on sight at this point. H. Knight salutes in response |
![]() Drufle (GM) | Suddenly, from your left, a cry rings out. "The beastmen! They're here!" |
![]() H. Knight | "In this far? Impossible" thinks HK H. Knight canters toward the commotion |
![]() Drufle (GM) | A few fomors have a halfling man up against a wall, giggling and shrieking at him. |
![]() H. Knight | "How Did These Vermin Get Past The Sentries And The Garrison? They Are More Conniving Than We Give Them Credit For" "Or, The Guards Must Be Lazy" |
![]() Drufle (GM) | The two goatmen turn to HK as he approaches and sneer. They say something incoherent in a babbling, whistling tongue. H. Knight ignores the gabbling and strides up to the beasts |
![]() H. Knight | "Communication is Futile. Resistance is Futile." |
![]() Drufle (GM) | The fomor looks up at you, suddenly very aware of your size. H. Knight cracks his knuckles |
![]() H. Knight | can I actually make an intimidation check or something |
![]() Drufle (GM) | Intimidation... intimidation... That is a thing, yeah. I need to remember the roll. Ok, oddly enough I can't find it listed anywhere. But will v will should be fine. |
![]() H. Knight | maybe in social? oh w/e any baboons or babanes? |
![]() Drufle (GM) | One boon. For being huge. |
![]() H. Knight | rolling 1d20 + 0 + 1d6k1(
13
)+0+(

![]() Drufle (GM) | Oh, geez. The fomor is terrified! He goes and runs behind his pal. |
![]() H. Knight | oh yeah him too gotta do that rolling 1d20 + 0 + 1d6k1 ( 5 )+0+( 6 ) = 11 |
![]() Drufle (GM) | Aaaaand they're off. |
![]() H. Knight | welp |
![]() Drufle (GM) | Fomors are widely known for being cowardly as chickens. They only fight if they have the numbers and they're sure they'll win. |
![]() H. Knight | "hm. I Suppose I Should Have Killed Them And Saved Someone Else The Trouble." "I'll Report Their Presence To The Guild. We Need To Have Words With The City Watch." garrison/whatever |
![]() Drufle (GM) | The halfling man wheezes and gasps, trying to steel himself. |
![]() H. Knight | "Are you Hurt, Citizen?" |
![]() Dalir | "I, I, uh, no? I'm, uh, hooooooooooo, wow, I'm fine." "Yes, thank you so much, oh my, wow." Dalir coughs a bit and shivers from the adrenaline. |
![]() H. Knight | "Excellent. Do You Live Far From This Location? I Shall Escort You If You So Wish." |
![]() Dalir | "Oh, uh, of course! Yes, I live over on Iron Street, I was just... just coming to get some fruit for afternoon lunch." H. Knight turns stony for a second as he thinks about food Dalir slowly stands up and brushes off the dust. |
![]() H. Knight | "Very Well. I Shall Return To My Patrol If You Have No Further Need Of Me" |
![]() Dalir | "Oh, no! Please, please, come with me, mr. uhh.... Knight, was it?" "That's you, right? The Robotic Steed, the Scourge of Demons? One of the Heroes?" |
![]() H. Knight | "So They Say. I Simply Move To Protect My Fellow Soldiers" "Though I Cannot Say I Can Do Well In My Role Currently" |
![]() Dalir | "Oh, blast that! You're a marvelous piece of work, you are!" |
![]() H. Knight | "Since The Emperor Returned I Felt Obliged To Relinquish My Weapons To The Garrison" |
![]() Dalir | "Oh, well that would make sense, I suppose." "In that case, you absolutely must come with me to my smithy, please!" |
![]() H. Knight | "...I Have Never Been Referred To As "Marvellous" Before Now." "If That Is What You Require" H. Knight is all but dragged away Dalir leads HK through the alley he had come from, a winding stretch of backroads and passages. |
![]() Drufle (GM) | Eventually, they emerge in front of a small shop in the middle of the Artificers' District. The building is rather low to the ground, with only two squat stories, and a brightly colored sign labelled "Dalir's Metal Goods" swings on the front. |
![]() H. Knight | "Ah, You Run A Smithy. I Understand Your Interest, Now/" Dalir nods enthusiastically. |
![]() Dalir | "Please, please, do come in. And, uh, watch your head!" Dalir waddles into the shop, shouting into the building as he goes. |
![]() H. Knight | "I Do Not Have Eyes Elsewhere To Watch It With, But I Shall Try." H. Knight ducks into the shop |
![]() Dalir | "Rami! Kids! We have a guest!" |
![]() Drufle (GM) | The shop is a simple place, a counter at the front for selling goods, where a squat lady sits at a tall stool counting coins. In the back is the forge, a sprawling mix of tools, fire, and searing metal. On the walls hang a number of incredibly high quality weapons, pieces of armor, masks, and other goods. Dalir beams up at HK. |
![]() Dalir | "Welcome to my Smithy, Mr. Knight!" H. Knight stares at the assortment before him |
![]() Dalir | "Rami, this man here saved my life today! There were some nasty beastmen in the city, somehow." |
![]() Drufle (GM) | The halfling woman looks up at HK and smiles brightly, nodding at him. |
![]() H. Knight | ""Annoying" is the World I Would Use" "It Was No Trouble, Miss. Formors Are A Craven and Cowardly Lot." |
![]() Dalir | "Well, uh, in thanks for saving my life, and thus my family's wellbeing, I'd like to give you a gift!" Dalir makes a broad motion to the variety of plate armor, maces, swords, and other crafts sitting around the shop. |
![]() H. Knight | "...I Have Never Received A Gift Before, Either. You Continue To Surprise Me, Mr. Dalir." Dalir smiles broadly. |
![]() Dalir | "Well, not all of us are scared of the mechanical! I for one love clockworks, although their means of creation are a bit gristly..." H. Knight 's eyes flash as he remembers something |
![]() H. Knight | "...Yes. Quite So." |
![]() Dalir | "But regardless, you said you needed new arms and armor after the Insurrection, yes?" "Please, please, help yourself! I assure you, everything here is of the most incredible quality." |
![]() H. Knight | "I Thank You For This Opportunity. I Have Something In Mind" |
![]() Drufle (GM) | So you can either have a weapon or a full set of armor, or a personal modification to your actual clockwork body. Whatever you pick, it'll have some kind of special effect. |
![]() H. Knight | "You May Have Noticed That My Body Is In A State of... Considerable Disrepair." Dalir frowns and nods. |
![]() Dalir | "Yes, I... I did notice that. I must say, for a hero of the city, you look awfully beat up." |
![]() H. Knight | "I Have Been Sleeping At The Bottom Of The Sea For A Very Long Time. This Damage Is From Rust And Salt And..." H. Knight shudders |
![]() H. Knight | "Barnacles." "I Am In Desperate Need Of An Overhaul. Weapons Are Useless Without A Hand To Wield Them." |
![]() Dalir | "Oh dear, oh dear. Well of course, of course! I'd love to fix you up, and I'll even include a custom attachment!" |
![]() H. Knight | "Your Kindess Moves Me, Truly" H. Knight is surprised to find out that what he has just said was not mere words Dalir brims with joy. |
![]() Dalir | "Well here, here, come back to the smithy with me." "We have much work to do, indeed!" |
![]() Drufle (GM) | Dalir runs to the back of the room, and along the way picks up an inordinate number of odd-looking tools and gadgets. |
![]() H. Knight | "I Have No Delusions About The Time This Must Take. I Must Send Word To The Guild To Explain My Absence." |
![]() Dalir | "Oh, uh, of course! Sorry, I got very excited, you know how it is." "Please, go do so, and come whenever you like!" |
![]() H. Knight | "Once Again, Thank You." H. Knight departs, and makes his way back to the Guildhall with a newfound spring in all four steps |
